Issues with Stucco and EFIS

EFIS stands for Exterior Insulation and Finish System. It is also known by the brandnames Dryvit and LaHabra Stucco and is commonly called synthetic stucco and cement board by contractors. If properly installed, EFIS can be a durable substrate. Installation practices are the key to a leak free building with either Stucco or EFIS.

Common Issues with both Stucco and EFIS:

• Window and Door Flashings

• Rain Screens

• Wall Penetration Flashings

We are finding biologic growth in contemporary Stucco buildings with high-performance insulation on a regular basis. These high-performance buildings have no pathways for the building to exhaust water vapor properly. We design solutions, specific to each building, to allow the buildings to dry.
