Park Ridge is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States, and a Chicago suburb. It is located 15 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. It is close to O'Hare International Airport, major expressways, and rail transportation. Park Ridge borders three Chicago neighborhoods on the city's far Northwest side (Edison Park, Norwood Park, and O'Hare.)



Park Ridge was originally inhabited by the Potawatomie Native Americas until they were moved in 1833.

In 1854 George Penny established a brickworks in the area and Park Ridge was originally called Pennyville in his honor. Due to the amount brickwork needed to develop the city of Chicago and the abundance of clay deposits in the soil in the area, Park Ridge was nicknamed "Brickton" by locals.
