Structural Roof Engineering Services

Roof Structural issues...

We provide solutions for repairing trusses, TJIs and I-Beams embedded in masonry. It doesn't take long for lumber to rot when the masonry walls consistently provide moisture to feed biological growth.

Spray Foam Insulation Issues...

We've found that foam insulation exacerbates moisture issues with wet embedded trusses. This truss was damaged before the foam was installed. It was originally reinforced with 2x4s on both sides, which is a practice known as "sistering."

The moisture source that continued to rot the truss is the masonry.  Unfortunately, spray foam collects moisture from the masonry and holds it in direct contact with the trusses.

Truss Repair Recommendations...

We recommend supporting the trusses, then disconnecting them from the masonry wall so there is a break in the water flow from the masonry to the truss. Then we re-attach the trusses to the walls with steel brackets.

Tenting Solutions to Protect Your Building and Keep Repairs Moving Along

Bob developed 365 Construction Tents to protect buildings and keep complex roof structure repairs on schedule. Tents are fitted specifically to the roof being repaired. There are tent designs for balconies and stairwell buildings roof as well.

365 Tents allow work to be done from the rooftop instead of removing ceiling from the interior. Residents typically live in the building while repairs are being completed.
